Explore Cornwall's Premier Heritage Railway with your very own guided tour and 'behind the scenes'.
The Ultimate Railway Experience allows you to explore Cornwall’s Premier Heritage Railway, Bodmin Railway. Join us for the whole day and be guided around our 1950’s station, Signal Box, Workshops and Running Shed. Including a delicious cream tea lunch and a 13 mile round-trip on our branch lines.
Based on our event running on our Green Timetable:
You’ll arrive at approximately 10:00-10:15 with a reserved car parking space and greeting from your guide for the day. At 10:30 pick up your bacon butty (or pastry) and coffee at our Station Café. Enjoy breakfast, getting to grips with the station facilities, experiencing the buzz of the railway and speak to volunteers!
Once you have enjoyed your breakfast butty, your guide will begin the tour by visiting the Signal Box and explaining the key infrastructure on railway’s station and platform, such as the watering tower.
At 11:50 board the train to Boscarne, with your own private compartment for just your group and your tour guide. As you travel down the line, learn about Bodmin Railway’s history and the Bodmin Railway Preservation Society. Not forgetting to step off at Boscarne Junction to watch the engine turn around.
When arriving back at 12:30, your guide will collect your Platinum Afternoon Tea Box from our Café, ready for your second branch line ride at 13:15 in our TSO coach. You will take this trip alone – soak up the views, take time to chat and enjoy lunch. Upon return from Bodmin Parkway, your guide will join you once again to explain the key interest points of the second branch line.
After safely disembarking the train after your second branch line trip, your guide will tour you around the ‘Behind the Scenes’ of the Railway, with an exclusive viewing of our Workshops and Running Shed. Finish your experience at approximately 15:30 with an ice cream on the platform and photo in our photobooth!
Timings will be adjusted for the experiences booked on our Blue Timetable. All information about the day will be emailed to you two weeks prior to your booking.
