Experience a thrilling footplate ride for 6 miles, up and down a branch of our railway, aboard a steam engine! Observe how our fireman and driver operate the loco, as you step back in time and relish in the era of steam.

Each ticket includes a steam footplate ride on one leg of the journey and a seat in our TSO on the other leg of the journey. Depending on which time slot you choose, will depend on whether you ride the steam footplate on the first or second leg of the journey. The whole experience will cover both our branch lines.
Please note you must be covering bare limbs, wearing trousers, long-sleeve shirts, boiler suits or overalls. Suitable footwear is also required. The Steam Footplate Ride is only for those 18+ Years. Participants must also be able to comfortably stand for approx. 1hr and be able to board the engine.
