Diesel Gala

28th and 29th of September

We are thrilled to announce for the first time in 30 years, ‘Thunderer’ will be returning to Cornwall!

Coming to Bodmin Railway this September

50008 was withdrawn from BR service on 5/6/92 and is now owned and operated by Hanson Hall Rail. 50008 is usually based at Knottingley (Wakefield, West Yorkshire). The Thunderer regularly operates on the mainline, moving anything from track machines to brand new multiple units. It can also be seen on enthusiast charter trains and other preserved railways during their diesel galas.

For our last gala weekend of the year, filled with purely diesel locomotives, expect to see Class 47 and 50 out and about, along with Thunderer. Expect to see the CDA wagons and potential for cab rides* throughout the weekend.

Please note that all of our galas may be subject to change, due to unforeseen engineering or operational issues.
