The news we have all been waiting for is finally here! After careful consideration we decided that we will aim to reopen on Saturday 1st May, all being well. We will reopen with all the Covid-19 prevention measures required in place. Our station and trains are undergoing some heavy essential maintenance to ensure they are both ready for when we reopen.
The Bodmin and Wenford PLC Board recognise that this is an ambitious target but are confident that we are well on the way to reopening with a lot of work already complete with a good plan for achieving the rest.
David Nelson-Brown, Chair of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway PLC Board commented: “The last year or so has been a very long slog and at times things looked bleak. But I am delighted to see the light not far ahead and it’s amazing that we’ve got this far! Our time for this has come and I hope over the next few weeks to see a busy hive of activity across the railway to give that final push.”
Although this is great news, we do of course have to bear in mind that this is a proposed opening date. We may have to change it due to Covid-19 restrictions or other external factors. However, we’ll do everything in our power to ensure we reopen on Saturday 1st May.
Keep your eyes peeled for further information and updates. We’ll be publishing more information over the coming days and weeks on our website and social media about our timetables, prices and other plans for the year ahead so watch this space!
That train ride on the other side isn’t too far away!
