Passenger update: Coronavirus

Bodmin & Wenford Railway’s 2020 season opening delayed until further notice.

2020 Bodmin & Wenford Railway season opening delayed

In light of the current government advice, we have made the difficult decision to delay the start of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway’s 2020 season until further notice. As you can imagine, an enormous amount of hard work has been put in by our team in preparation, however the wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our top priority.

If you have a group visit or a ticketed event or special train experience booked with us in the coming weeks, we will be in touch to discuss your options. We would encourage you to consider transferring your booking to a later date, or to a voucher to enable you to join us for a future visit, without having to commit to a specific date at this time which we appreciate is difficult. We hope that whilst it is disappointing you can’t attend as planned, this will offer something to look forward to when the experience can be enjoyed.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and will share any updates or changes to our plans across our social channels, and on our website. Whilst we are closed you will still be able to contact us via our [email protected] address and on 01208 73555 (Monday to Friday 10:00-16:00).

We also intend to take the opportunity to stay engaged with our railway supporters, volunteers and passengers past and future by using our online channels as a place for preserving community and positivity and continuing to share our railway heritage in these strange and challenging times. So please stay tuned!

We look forward to welcoming you all at a later date, and thank you for your understanding. Take care.

From all at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway

We are open, and will remain open until instructed otherwise.

Like all visitor attractions, the latest statement from the Government has left us in a very difficult situation. We have prepared measures and taken actions to protect our staff, volunteers and our customers, however, without a formal closure notice from the Government, we unfortunately can’t claim vital support or insurance to help support our staff members.

As a small heritage tourism business and charity, we run solely on the income generated by ticket sales, catering and retail. We have done everything we can to ensure visitors and colleagues are safe at the railway, so to reiterate our earlier message, please do visit us, ensure you wash your hands and if you are experiencing symptoms, please stay at home.

From our railway family to yours, stay safe and healthy and we hope that you’ll continue to visit us, whilst we see out this difficult situation and things get back on track.

Bodmin & Wenford Railway team

We’d like to reassure everyone that we are carefully monitoring the advice from Public Health England to ensure the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff.

We have implemented a number of visible and non-visible measures to help reduce the risk of infection and continue to take advice. We would, however, remind all visitors of the importance of maintaining good hand and personal hygiene at all times, and please do not come in if you are feeling ill or are around people that are.

The NHS suggests simple things that you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus, including:

  • washing your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always washing your hands when you get home or into work
  • using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • putting used tissues in the bin straight away and washing your hands afterwards
  • trying to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

To help our visitors, volunteers and staff follow these measures, we are ensuring there is easy access to facilities for handwashing and that hand sanitisers or soap are available. Hand-washing is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and others.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you and we hope you enjoy your visit.

For details of opening dates and times, please continue to check our website and social media, which will be updated as anything changes.
