Around 60,000 passengers travel with us at our leading heritage attraction in Cornwall each year. The dedicated engineering team based in our Bodmin General workshop are responsible for keeping our fleet on track to transport all those visitors. Could you be just the person we need to help us meet a demanding schedule of maintenance, working on our fleet of heritage steam and diesel locomotives, coaches, wagons and plant?
Reporting to the Board, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing the routine maintenance, repair and restoration of our heritage fleet of rolling stock to ensure both day to day and planned running requirements are managed and achieved.
The ideal candidate will have a background in both practical engineering and management of workshop resources. They will be instrumental in implementing changes to workshop facilities and practices to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our workshop output.
The workforce, both employee and volunteer, comprises machinists, fitters, boilersmiths, mechanics, carpenters, electricians and painters who work together on our fleet of heritage steam and diesel locomotives, MK1 and other coaches and our historic freight vehicles.
Due to the operational nature of our railway, some weekend work may be necessary as required.
