The railway is currently closed due to the current third lockdown. However we are working tirelessly to ensure we are able to open later this year. We are currently planning to reopen around Easter time, subject to Covid restrictions, and good progress is being made on many fronts to make sure the railway is in the best possible place to reopen.

I want to support the railway during this challenging time.

We are truly humbled by the support we have received during this time. You’ll find details of all the ways you can support us on our website here. These include making a donation, but also the option to buy from our online shop or sign up as a member of the Preservation Society. Thank you!

I have a voucher that expires this year…

Your voucher is automatically valid for an extended period, until the end of 2021. You do not need to do anything further. We hope that this will offer something to look forward to when the experience can be enjoyed. We look forward to welcoming you at a later date, and thank you for your understanding. We couldn’t have you missing out could we?

How will I know when you reopen?

We plan to run trains again from Easter 2021. The best thing to do would be sign up to our mailing list here. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – now some staff are back to work we’ll be able to keep these channels better updated. We’ll share updates about our plans for reopening as we have them. We’ll also regularly update our followers on any progress being made.

I’m trying to contact the office but I’ve struggled to get through.

Sorry that we haven’t been able to be as responsive as usual. Our entire small team have been furloughed, and we have been going through a restructuring process.

A new in-house team for the business and administration side of things is currently being recruited. If your enquiry is genuinely urgent, please use the [email protected] email address, which will be being monitored on a regular basis by volunteers, with emails being redirected.

I’m interested in making a booking or group booking for 2021.

We are currently working out our running schedule for 2021 so we’re unable to take bookings or confirm dates at this point. However, we will update our website and social media as soon as we are able to make this information available.

I’m a volunteer and I’m really keen to come back and help!

We have put in place measures to keep volunteers safe when they return to the railway, and we’ll need you to pay attention to the new procedures and way of working that have been put in place. We have been able to welcome more people back to volunteering in various different areas, so please get in touch.

I haven’t volunteered before but would like to get involved now.
