How to Find Us

Getting to the Bodmin & Wenford Railway!

Once on the outskirts of Bodmin, follow the brown tourist signs to the "Steam Railway"

Bodmin General is our ONLY station that has car parking facilities for our passengers. The station is ½-mile from the town centre, on the B3268 towards Lostwithiel, and well signposted from the town centre and all the main roads leading into the town.

If you have a SatNav, use the postcode PL31 1AG

The Railway has its own car park at Bodmin General, directly adjacent to the station, which is FREE to rail users. There are other (Pay & Display) car parks nearby.

Please allow at least 20 minutes to park, purchase tickets and find your seats on the train – longer if using one of the Pay & Display car parks.  All trains reverse at Bodmin General.

Main line train services (from London, Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth etc and stations in Cornwall) operate to Bodmin Parkway station, which is on the West of England main line between Plymouth and Penzance.

There is easy cross-platform interchange at Bodmin Parkway with Bodmin & Wenford Railway services. Trains from the north arrive at Platform 1, trains from the south at Platform 2, whilst our trains have exclusive use of Platform 3.

Through tickets, which include travel on the main line AND a journey over the whole of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, are available at all main line ticket offices – ask for a ticket to the Bodmin & Wenford Railway (and NOT just Bodmin Parkway). See details of our Inclusive Through Ticketing here.

There are information boards on Platform 2, and in the Signalbox Café on Platform 1, with details of train times and special events etc.

Visit National Rail Enquiries to plan your main line rail journey.

Further information about main line train services can be obtained from National Rail Enquiries (Tel: 08457 48 49 50), and NOT from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.

Bicycles travel FREE on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, subject to accommodation being available. Learn more on our Dogs and Bicycles page
