As a result of the General Election in May North Cornwall gained a new MP, Tory Scott Mann replacing LibDem Dan Rogerson. Remarkably Scott was working as a Wadebridge postman, and now at the age of 38 finds himself in Parliament representing one of the largest constituencies in Cornwall, which includes Bodmin. On Friday 31 July Scott paid a courtesy call to the B&WR. He toured General station, the signal box, the steam shed, the workshops, and the crib hut, meeting many of his constituents who work for the railway as volunteers or paid staff. He then travelled to Boscarne Junction as "trainee" Guard, returning to General in the cab of GWR 0-6-0 Pannier tank no. 4612 as "trainee" Fireman. We think he enjoyed his day!
