Aldershot Signal Box

Published: 8th April 2014

Aldershot Signal Box was one of a trio of boxes closed by Network Rail on 24 July 2013, the others being Ash Vale Junction and Farnham. Mike Quinlan, B&WR Chief S&T Engineer, became aware that the equipment would be available to heritage railways who might require it. So it was in early March, with demolition of the box imminent, that a team from Bodmin arrived at Aldershot to dismantle the Stevens, L&SWR, 24 lever frame. It is now safely stored at Bodmin and is intended for proposed signalling projects at both Bodmin Parkway and Boscarne Junction, thus maintaing the L&SWR connection.
