Steam Gala & Real Ale Festival

Steam Gala & Real Ale Festival

Event Date: 1st June 2018- 3rd June 2018

Steam Gala and Real Ale Festival 1st - 3rd June 2018

Steam Gala and Real Ale Festival 2018

Our annual Steam Gala has moved to the early Summer this year and we are planning one of our most intensive steam timetables of recent years with 17 departures from Bodmin General to choose from on Friday and Saturday.  We are planning an industrial saddle tank / freight train theme for the event with one of our largest freight trains in recent years being pulled by 4247 and also we are planning to have in steam Judy (who's boiler ticket expires this September), our recently outshopped Austerity 0-6-0 (which is likely to go our on hire next year).  Sadly our original plans to welcome 'Portbury' as a visiting locomotive from the Bristol Harbour railway will no longer be possible but we are very pleased to have secured as a visitor 'L92' from the South Devon Railway.  This is currently painted in London Transport livery which will provide a nice and unusual spash of colour.

PLEASE NOTE that we are very sorry to have to announce that the Beattie Well Tank will not be able to be used on Saturday as hoped due to a mechanical fault that became apparent during the course of Friday.  6435 will be used in its place.

Full timetables are shown below.

L92, our new guest locomotive from South Devon, will be appearing at the steam gala.

*All locomotives appearing subject to availability.

Real Ale Festival

Steamers Real Ale Bar will be open, with a platform ticket for entry with a selection of real ales from across Cornwall and further afield, plus ciders, apple juices and real lemonade. The Old Booking Hall cafe on the platform at Bodmin General will be serving refreshments for at least as long as trains are running.

Steam, Beer & Jazz
