Cornish Summertime and Steam: with The Kitchen, Atlantic Brewery and The Grenaways

Cornish Summertime and Steam: with The Kitchen, Atlantic Brewery and The Grenaways

Event Date: 17th August 2018- 17th August 2018

We’re delighted to be hosting an alternative evening of food and entertainment celebrating Cornish summertime with heritage steam travel and home grown produce and talent! For the 20th July event we welcome The Kitchen, Atlantic Brewery and The Grenaways.

The evening starts from 6pm.

Tickets are £49.50 per person including food, entertainment, steam train travel and the chance to sample a selection of drinks. There will also be a bar available.

Please advise whether you require meat or vegetarian (or have any special dietary requirements) when booking.

Book online or on 01208 73555.

The Kitchen, Falmouth

Food for the evening will be provided by Ben and Rory from The Kitchen, Falmouth. The best way to understand what The Kitchen is all about is to let them describe it in their own words:

“In Cornwall, the larder stretches from the sea to the shoreline, from the land to woods. So we don’t import anything, and most is on the doorstep. All freshly grown, shot or foraged.

We want to show you what you can do when you live and work honestly, behave to everyone like you would an old friend, focus on your community and source produce according to the land and the seasons.

When you decide on The Kitchen we want you to feel like you’re at a dinner party at a friend’s house rather than out at a restaurant. Service doesn’t come with a plastic smile but with genuine warmth.

The most important thing to take away is the feeling of inclusivity, that you were at a home, felt at home, licked your plates clean, took off your shoes if you felt like it.”

Sounds good to us! With a meat and a vegetarian option, the menu is still to be confirmed, but to quote Rory: “The only known is that it'll be Lamb from the Cornish Lamb Co (really amazing, organic farm; the lambs are left to prong in the fields with their families and grow a little older). As for the rest, we won't know what we'll have to work with until the week pretty much, but it'll be a showcase of what Cornwall can offer up on a plate. Cooked in a filing cabinet. And an egg.”

Atlantic Brewery & Distillery

The team from Atlantic will be on hand with a fully stocked bar and the chance to sample their full array of delicious tipples. So whether it’s ale, cider, gin or vodka that’s your preference there will be something to suit (plus the railway’s regular supply of Cornish Orchards soft drinks too).

Brewed and distilled in an 18th century farmhouse on the stunning North Cornwall Coast, Atlantic Brewery and Distillery are a fully certified organic producer of bottle-conditioned ales, unfined cask ales and hand crafted gins. The latest addition to the drinks menu is Dowr, Atlantic’s smooth refreshing, moreish vodka, inspired by the natural surroundings of the coastal farm.

The Grenaways

The Grenaways could be said to be mining the rich veins of inspirational ore that course through their home turf of Cornwall where they add a sense of their own ties to the region and especially it’s Celtic heritage. But, they are a band set for far wider horizons with a massive and alternative sound billowing through their musical sails…

They are rootsy storytellers, unique in the folk style, with songs that are rich in nautical undertones, influenced so much by the sea, its people and coastal living.

The band will be playing as an acoustic trio with a mellow set and then something to liven things up later in the evening.

A Feast of Bodmin Event

The Feast of Bodmin is about shared dining experiences. About enjoying good food, exploring unusual spaces and meeting new people. It is a celebration of local produce and exotic flavours, of the food we love and the food we’ve never tried.

There will be a Feast of Bodmin festival and one-off Feast of Bodmin events. Join us, with other local chefs, cafes, restaurants and venues to enjoy top quality dining experiences. Find out more at www.intobodmin.co.uk.
