Behind the Scenes Days

Behind the Scenes Days

Event Date: 24th March 2018- 9th September 2018

Times: 24th March, 7th June, 9th September 2018

A rare chance to see how it all works, and meet the team. The perfect visit for potential volunteers!

In the shed: Port of Par, 4612, 6435

24th March

There’ll be steam and diesel engines running, with the timetable running as below and 6435 providing brake van rides to Bodmin Parkway for viewing of items in our collection that we store in Parkway Shed. Alongside our new DMU the ‘bubblecar’, we’ll be running brake van trips with one of our steam engines. Volunteers from across the railway will be on hand to host guided behind the scenes tours of our workshop and engine sheds, and tell you a little more about their roles. There’ll be the opportunity to register your interest as a prospective volunteer, or sign up as a member and support the railway with a regular contribution – either way you’ll be helping keep us on track!

Tickets for 24th March:
It’s free to come and meet our volunteer team and explore behind the scenes at the railway on these dates, including guided tours and access to our workshop (although donations are always welcome!).

Additionally, you can buy tickets for travel on the day from the booking office at Bodmin General, or with cash from the ticket inspector on the train. Explore six and a half miles of track with a Freedom of the Line ticket - pay once and travel all day!

Adults: £9
Children: £3.50 (Under 3s FREE)

Full event ticket:

Every year over four days in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s FREE. Details of our event to be confirmed.
